Car Sales & Financing Resources

Many offers for cars are too good to be true. So are offers for financing them.

To avoid some problems, check out the Federal Trade Commission’s website for consumers: Buying and Owning a Car.

“Sales finance companies” are required to be licensed in New Hampshire. This includes lenders such as banks and auto finance companies. If you have a complaint against the sales finance company lending you money to buy your car, you can file a complaint with the New Hampshire Banking Department.

Consumer.gov also has information about Car Title Loans, which is a loan for a small amount of money and for a short time. Also check out our High-Cost Small Loans page for more information.

Does your new car have the same problem over and over again? It may be a “lemon”! Learn more about your rights under New Hampshire’s “Lemon Law”.
